Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in the Borno State capital on Saturday for an emergency visit to extend the Federal Government’s condolences following a devastating attack that claimed the lives of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and several other gallant officers and soldiers.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President met with leadership from the Nigerian Army and the Borno State Government, signaling a high-level commitment to addressing the renewed security challenges in the Northeast.
A Tribute to Fallen Heroes
During his visit to the military command, Vice President Shettima spoke somberly about the heavy price of national stability. He emphasized that the sacrifice made by General Braimah and his men would not be in vain, praising their bravery in the face of extreme danger.
“These men wore the uniform for all of us. They stood to protect our communities, our families, and the future of our children. Their courage reminds us that peace and security often come at a very heavy cost,” the Vice President stated.
Federal Resolve and Operational Support
Addressing the security architecture in the region, Shettima assured the military high command of sustained operational support. He reiterated that the Tinubu administration is currently refining its security strategies to ensure a more proactive response to insurgent activities.
The Vice President issued a stern warning to the perpetrators of the attack, asserting that the federal government is more determined than ever to eliminate criminal elements across the country.
Renewed Security Commitment
The visit served as a platform for the Vice President to reaffirm that criminals will have no hiding place under the current administration. He noted that the presidency remains in constant communication with the armed forces to provide the necessary hardware and welfare required to maintain the momentum in the counter-insurgency operations.
By visiting the frontlines shortly after the incident, the Vice President aimed to boost the morale of the troops and reassure the citizens of Borno State that the government’s resolve to restore total peace remains unshaken.
