President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday officially administered the Oath of Office to eight newly appointed Federal Commissioners, deploying fresh leadership to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the National Population Commission (NPC).
The brief ceremony, held at the State House, saw two commissioners sworn into the RMAFC, while six members took their oaths to join the NPC. The appointments are aimed at strengthening fiscal mobilization and demographic data management across the federation.
Confirming the development in an official statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, noted that the appointees bring wealth of experience to their respective roles.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, administered the Oath of Office to eight Federal Commissioners, two for the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and six for the National Population Commission (NPC),” Onanuga stated.
New Hands to Drive Fiscal Mobilization at RMAFC
The two newly inaugurated commissioners for the RMAFC include Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa from Bauchi State and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad from Kaduna State. Both officials boast robust backgrounds in law, administration, and public service.
Hajiya Amina, a legal practitioner and alumnus of the London School of Journalism, has previously served in the National Assembly, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF). Notably, she played a pivotal role in the establishment of Nigeria’s National Blood Transfusion Service.
Her counterpart, Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, holds multiple advanced degrees in law and international diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Muhammad is a veteran administrator who previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and later as the Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) between 2015 and 2020.
Strengthening Demographic Data and Population Governance
President Tinubu also fortified the National Population Commission (NPC) by swearing in six commissioners drawn from diverse professional sectors, including academia, public health, and law enforcement.
The new NPC team includes Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, the former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly and ex-chairman of the Zamfara COVID-19 Task Force, alongside Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi from Ekiti State, an information technology and supply chain expert who recently served as Executive Commissioner at the Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
The academic and security sectors are well represented by Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda from Katsina State, a Professor of Sociology and Criminology and former member of the Presidential Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), and Suleiman Umar from Jigawa State, a retired Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration who specialized in intelligence and enforcement.
Completing the NPC lineup are two seasoned insiders: Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya from Kwara State, a political scientist who rose through the ranks to become the NPC’s Director of Public Affairs, and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State and urban planning expert who has been reappointed by President Tinubu for a second term as a Federal Commissioner.
