The Food and Climate Justice Campaign (FCJC) coalition is a loose network of more than 30 civil society and farmer organisations working in SADC countries to address the issues of food security and climate change. The main objective of the FCJC is to empower smallholder farmers especially women to realise their rights to food and climate justice – as stipulated in the CAADP, Malabo Declaration, national and regional instruments (RISDP and the Regional Agriculture policy –SADC RAP) – through advocacy, campaigning, and dialoguing, at community level, and national level to regional and international levels. Specifically the coalition is working to achieve the main goals of ensuring:
(i) Poor farmers, especially women are more aware of climate change impacts and are able to demand their rights;
(ii) Broader groups of citizens are able to inform and influence decision makers on pro-poor policies related to food security and climate change
(iii) Networks and coalitions are able to lobby effectively from local to national to regional to help influence key decision and policy makers
(iv) Small scale farmers are able to reduce vulnerabilities and risk through enhanced knowledge on climate information, adaptation techniques and resources available.

Major Role and Duty:
The Campaign Coordinator will lead, coordinate and manage the Campaign activities in the SADC region. With the support from coalition members’ staff and host organization programme officer, the campaign coordinator will be overseeing day to day planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, to achieve the defined activities’ objectives/outcomes in line with the action plan approved by the steering committee of the coalition. S/he will work closely with the Coalition Steering Committee and Coalition members from each country, and act as ex-officio member of the Coalition Steering committee S/he will represent the Campaign in engagements with regional partners, allies, funders and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
(i) Oversee the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and
(ii) Oversee the effective implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation
(iii) Link up with Coalition Members’ focal persons in the participating countries to
(iv) Coordinate and minute the Coalition Steering Committee and members meeting
(v) Mobilise coalition financial and human resources for common courses as
(vi) Act as the main focal point for engagement with and accountability to funders.
(vii) Ensure that the Coalition work plan and expenditure conforms with the
(viii) Coordinate inception workshops in Year 1 to ensure that Coalition Members are
(ix) Represent the Coalition in engagement with key regional stakeholders includingevaluation of the coalition agreed action plan activities to achieve the defined Campaign objectives in line with the approved Action Plan by Members.

(x) Report and undertake active feedback on project progress to SADC-CNGO and
(xi) To implement any other assigned duties, as and when necessary, within the
Campaign budget.
Familiar with SADC policies, guidelines and reporting requirements.

Key deliverables / outputs
Over the six months period, the Campaign Coordinator must deliver the following outputs

ii. Improved coordination and participation of key stakeholders in the campaign
iii. An agreed upon action plan and budget for the campaign.
iv. An approved monitoring, evaluation and report framework for the campaign.
v. A partners profile – showing participating organisation, actions / activities being and in its planning and implementation structures.
vi. Report and minutes of all meetings (in all forms i.e. physical, Skype/
vii. A campaign resource outline / report reflecting the budget, mobilised resources
viii. Provide narrative progress and activity reports timeously.

Desired Skills & Experience
(i) Postgraduate degree in Social Science, Political Science, Development Studies,
(ii) English Language proficiency, French and Portuguese will be added advantage.
(iii) At least 5 years’ experience working in an international agency / across countries
(iv) Comprehensive understanding of both policy issues and programme practice
(v) Experience of developing, planning, managing and reporting on complex multi-
country institutional donor-funded projects.
(vi) Solid project management skills and experience of managing complex projects
(vii) Strong networking/relationship-building skills to work well with and influence
(viii) Excellent communication skills, IT and Computer literacy
Human Rights, Governance or other relevant humanities field.
