Save the Children is proud to announce the launch of its Global Media Awards, a landmark initiative that recognizes exceptional journalism that advances the rights of children worldwide. This prestigious award commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, a milestone achievement led by Save the Children’s founder, Eglantyne Jebb.
The Global Media Awards 2024 invite professional journalists from around the world to submit their outstanding stories that have shed light on critical child rights issues, amplified children’s voices, and driven positive change.
“Journalism plays a vital role in advocating for children’s rights and well-being, holding those in power accountable,” said Belinda Goldsmith, Director of the Global Media Unit at Save the Children. “We’re thrilled to launch these awards to recognize the courageous efforts of journalists who report on child rights issues, driving impact and change.”
Entries are open across all media platforms, including print, broadcast, photography, and digital media, with a deadline of August 1, 2024. An independent jury of esteemed judges will select winners in two categories: Local/Regional Media and International Outlets/Wires.
Winners will be announced on World Children’s Day, November 20, 2024, and will receive a trophy, certificate, and an invitation to a Save the Children international press trip or program visit.
