Abuja, Nigeria – In a bid to address the growing tensions ahead of the planned nationwide protests, Federal Government officials held an emergency meeting on Wednesday in Abuja. The meeting, which was attended by top government officials, including the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, aimed to find a solution to the grievances of the protesters.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Idris assured that the government is taking the situation seriously and appealed for more time from Nigerians to address the issues. He described the planned protests as a “family matter,” emphasizing that the government is working to resolve all issues and ensure peace and stability in the country.
“We understand that the planned protests are a result of the people’s frustration with the current state of affairs in the country,” Idris said. “We want to assure Nigerians that we are committed to working towards a solution. We are all in this together, and we will work towards a peaceful resolution.”
Idris also revealed that the government has been engaging with stakeholders and protest organizers to address their grievances. “The President has met with key stakeholders, and I have also been engaging with various groups. Engagement will continue in the best interest of Nigeria. We recognize that this is our only country, and we will work together to make it better for all,” he added.
The planned protests, which are scheduled to take place across the country, are aimed at drawing attention to various issues, including economic hardship, insecurity, and corruption. The government’s appeal for more time comes as a surprise to many, as protesters have been demanding immediate action to address their grievances.
