President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja today, January 26, for an official state visit to the Republic of Türkiye to deepen bilateral ties.
The visit will serve as a reciprocal diplomatic engagement following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s official visit to Nigeria in October 2021. This mission seeks to expand cooperation across several critical sectors, including security, aviation, education, and social development.
During the visit, President Tinubu and President Erdogan are expected to lead high-level discussions focusing on trade, investment, finance, and communication. A central component of the trip will be the signing of various Memoranda of Understanding designed to foster technical and military cooperation, as well as partnerships in energy and scientific research.
To bolster economic exchange, a dedicated business forum will be held to connect Nigerian and Turkish investors. This platform is intended to facilitate new ventures and strengthen the commercial relationship between the two G20 economies.
The President will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa. The entourage also includes the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, alongside several other cabinet members.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the diplomatic mission.
