Governor Gboyega Oyetola has promised to ensure a violence-free election in the Osun State 2022 governorship election.
Oyetola, candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress signed the peace agreement during a meeting with the National Democratic Institute and “Vote don’t Fight Foundation” in Osogbo.
Present at the signing were too members of the party in the state as well as the VOTE not FIGHT (VNF) team led by VNF ambassador Mr Innocent ‘2face’ Idibia.
According to the VNF team, the objective of the meeting was to seek the governor’s pledge of support for a peaceful election in Osun state.
Other demands of the VNF team include, “effective implementation of the Osun Youth Development Commission (Establishment) Law if given another mandate by the people of Osun, to set-up shelters for women survivors of electoral violence and a one-stop center to address cases of Gender-Based Violence.”
After a fruitful deliberation, His excellency signed the VNF and Stop-VAWIP peace pledge cards.
The Governor also promised that his party would continue to address issues but not personalities in its campaigns and give a level playing ground for all the contenders in the election
