The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has joined forces with U-Blaze Global Limited, a non-governmental organisation, to launch a massive voter sensitisation walk across Akure. The initiative aims to mobilise eligible citizens to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise before the fast-approaching deadline.
Tagged the “PVC Assembly Walk 2026 – Vote Ready Ondo,” the campaign is designed to deepen voter education, promote responsible citizenship, and encourage residents to register as first-time voters. It also provides a platform for existing voters to apply for registration transfers or update their voter information before the CVR exercise officially closes on July 26, 2026.
Mobilising the Community
The awareness walk commenced at the First Bank Traffic Light in Alagbaka, charting a route through major hubs including Omi-Eja, A-Division, Olukayode, and Oja-Oba, before concluding at the Democracy Park behind the Central Mosque in Akure. The energetic exercise brought together a diverse crowd, including students, members of U-Blaze Global Limited, and INEC officials.
At the tail end of the trek, participants actively engaged members of the public, distributing vital information on the registration process and emphasizing why active civic participation matters.
Strategic Electoral Partnerships
Reflecting on the success of the rally, the Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department for INEC in Ondo State, Mr. Olayinka Ogunseye, praised the synergy between the commission and civil society. He reiterated that the electoral body is deeply committed to expanding its network of partners to ensure no eligible voter is left behind.
“The Commission remains committed to expanding partnerships with civil society organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen voter education and public sensitisation,” Ogunseye stated. “Under the leadership of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, INEC will continue to support initiatives that encourage greater participation in the electoral process.”
A Final Call to Action
With the registration window narrowing, electoral officials are making a final push to capture as many eligible citizens as possible. Ogunseye strongly urged all eligible residents who have yet to register, as well as those needing to transfer their cards or correct errors in their voter records, to visit registration centres immediately and take full advantage of the remaining days of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
This collaborative walk is part of INEC’s sustained, state-wide campaign to ensure maximum inclusivity and robust public participation in Ondo State’s upcoming electoral cycles.
