The Nigerian Senate will begin consideration on the 8.6 trillion naira 2018 budget next Wednesday.
Senate President Bukola Saraki made this known during Thursday’s plenary session
The lawmakers have insisted the request by President Muhammadu Buhari to the national assembly to make the budget available by January is unrealistic, as they need time to scrutinize the documents.
The lawmakers say returning to a January to December budget year cycle will not solve the problems of implementation.
The debate on the general principles of the budget will begin next Wednesday.
