The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has commenced a nationwide recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking full-time employment opportunities across various positions within the agency.
The recruitment is aimed at strengthening the agency’s workforce and improving its capacity to protect Nigeria’s agricultural sector from pests, diseases and contaminated agricultural products.
NAQS Announces Vacancies Across Three Cadres
According to the agency, applications are open for positions across the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Assistant cadres through its official recruitment portal.
Under the Superintendent Cadre, NAQS is recruiting Chief Superintendent of Quarantine (CSQ) – CONMESS 2 for Veterinary Doctors.
Applicants for the position are required to possess a first degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from a recognised institution, alongside an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
The agency is also seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Superintendent of Quarantine (DSQ) – CONRAISS 08, with applicants required to possess a first degree in Law or a Master’s degree in another relevant field from a recognised institution, as well as an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
For the position of Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II (ASQ II) – CONRAISS 07, applicants must possess a minimum of a first degree from a recognised institution and an NYSC discharge certificate.
Under the Inspectorate Cadre, NAQS is recruiting Inspector of Quarantine (IQ I–IQ III) – CONRAISS 05, with candidates required to possess an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) from a recognised institution.
The agency also announced vacancies for Quarantine Assistant (QA I–QA III) – CONRAISS 04 under the Assistant Cadre. Applicants for the position must possess an SSCE, NECO or GCE O’Level certificate with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
Agency Lists Eligibility Requirements
NAQS stated that applicants must meet statutory requirements, including being Nigerian citizens by birth and possessing a valid National Identity Number (NIN).
The agency added that candidates must be medically fit, pass a drug test, have good character, possess no criminal record and be free from financial embarrassment this.
Applicants are also expected to demonstrate basic computer literacy.
NAQS further specified physical requirements for candidates, including a minimum height of 1.65 metres for male applicants and 1.55 metres for female applicants. Male candidates must also have a chest measurement of not less than 0.87 metres.
The agency warned that qualifications not declared and accepted during the recruitment process would not be recognised after employment.
It also noted that applicants with certain physical or medical conditions, including severe physical deformities, speech impairment, defective eyesight and hearing impairment, may not be eligible due to the demands of the recruitment process.
Shortlisted Candidates to Undergo Screening
According to NAQS, shortlisted candidates will participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT), with details of the screening exercise and interviews to be communicated to successful applicants.
The agency emphasised that the recruitment process is free and cautioned applicants against fraudulent platforms or individuals requesting payment for recruitment assistance.
Application Timeline
The recruitment exercise will follow the schedule below:
- Application Opens: July 28, 2026
- Application Closes: August 10, 2026
- Shortlisting of Successful Candidates: August 13, 2026
- CBT Screening/Interviews: August 15, 2026
Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications through the official NAQS recruitment portal before the deadline.
The recruitment comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to strengthen agricultural institutions and enhance the capacity of agencies responsible for protecting Nigeria’s food systems and agricultural development.
