In a major boost to practical education and youth empowerment, Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, in partnership with Lions International District 404B2 Nigeria, has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art Skill Development Centre at Dairy Farm Secondary School, Agege.
The facility is designed to equip students with critical vocational and entrepreneurial skills, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world economic self-reliance.
Strategic Partnership for Youth Empowerment
Representing the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District I, Dr. (Mrs.) Idowu Olufunke Oyetola, delivered the state’s official goodwill message. She commended the service organization for its substantial investment in the state’s public education system.
“This Skill Development Centre stands as a valuable legacy that will equip our students with essential vocational and entrepreneurial skills needed for self-reliance and future success. Collaborations like this complement the efforts of the Lagos State Government in preparing our youth not just for academic excellence, but for entrepreneurship and the global workforce,” she stated
Call for Responsibility and Facilities Preservation
Addressing the student body, Dr. Oyetola urged the young learners to seize the opportunity by approaching their vocational studies with diligence and discipline. She stressed that the facility serves as a gateway to building sustainable livelihoods.
She further charged the school administration, staff, and students to take collective ownership of the project. Emphasizing maintenance, she noted that safeguarding the newly installed equipment and maintaining a safe learning environment will determine the long-term impact of the donation for future generations.
Facility Inspection and Official Unveiling
The commissioning event featured the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by an extensive inspection tour of the new facilities and equipment. Dignitaries, community leaders, and educational stakeholders present at the ceremony widely praised Lions International District 404B2 Nigeria for their sustained commitment to human capital development and social impact in Lagos State.
