The Lagos State Government has officially launched a specialized training initiative for education administrators focused on digital innovation. The move is a strategic effort to strengthen staff capacity and modernize service delivery across the state’s academic sector.
The program, titled “Digital Innovation and Transformation for Education Administrators in the Public Service,” recently convened at the Ojodu Resource Centre, drawing participation from over 200 education administrators.
Equipping Governance for the Modern Era
While declaring the session open, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishments and Training, Olubusola Abidakun, emphasized that the curriculum was specifically curated to meet contemporary governance demands.
“The training was designed to equip education administrators with relevant digital skills required to meet the demands of modern-day governance,”Abidakun said.
She further noted that because educators are the primary drivers of development, they must be exposed to innovative tools to maximize their efficiency. Abidakun credited the administration’s focus on continuous capacity building as a core pillar of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s vision for a more efficient workforce.
Strategic Selection and Implementation
Echoing the importance of the initiative, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, lauded the collaboration between ministries. She highlighted that participants were carefully selected based on relevance to ensure the knowledge translates directly into classroom and administrative improvements.
She urged the attendees to take full advantage of the sessions, noting that the ultimate goal is the active application of gained knowledge to elevate public service performance.
Advancing Strategic Thinking
Parallel to the digital transformation sessions, the state expanded its training scope to include critical decision-making skills. Over 100 officers from various cadres gathered at the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) for a workshop titled “The Art of Strategic Thinking in a Volatile, Uncertain, and Ambiguous Environment.” This secondary program aims to fortify the state’s public service against global uncertainties by fostering advanced problem-solving and strategic leadership capabilities.
