MultiChoice Nigeria has appointed Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2026, following the retirement of John Ugbe, who led the company for almost 15 years.

Ugbe’s tenure is celebrated as transformative, having guided MultiChoice Nigeria through major market changes, strengthened its operational foundation, and positioned the company for long-term resilience in Nigeria’s evolving media landscape.

Omotosho brings over 20 years of leadership experience across media, telecommunications, and digital businesses in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. She has held senior roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria, Group Executive Head for the Rest of Africa, and most recently, Regional Director for Southern Africa, managing a seven-country portfolio with full profit and loss responsibility.

As CEO, Omotosho will lead strategy, operations, and stakeholder engagement, focusing on deepening consumer relationships, promoting local storytelling, and building a future-ready, sustainable organisation. She described her appointment as a privilege and reiterated Nigeria’s strategic importance to the MultiChoice Group.

Ugbe’s nearly 15-year leadership tenure strengthened Nigeria’s pay-TV and digital entertainment space, expanded the company’s footprint, championed local content, and supported the growth of the Nigerian creative industry. His retirement marks the end of a significant chapter in MultiChoice Nigeria’s history.
