The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 General Election available online, following calls from Nigerians and electoral stakeholders for wider access to the register.

In a press statement signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC) on Monday, October 26, 2026, the Commission said the decision was taken to promote transparency, improve accessibility and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

INEC said the register can now be accessed through its online platform at display.inecnigeria.org, giving Nigerians another opportunity to check the register following the physical display exercise conducted nationwide.

INEC Explains Online Publication

According to the Commission, the physical display of the Preliminary Register of Voters was conducted at Registration Areas across the country from October 9 to 15, 2026, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.

The exercise allowed registered voters to inspect their personal details and submit claims and objections as provided by law.

INEC said it had taken note of concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders about the need to make the register available online in addition to the physical display.

“Accordingly, and in furtherance of its commitment to transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process, the Commission has decided to make available on its online platform the same Preliminary Register of Voters earlier displayed at the Registration Areas,” the statement said.

The Commission described the online publication as an additional measure intended to expand public access to the register, rather than replace the physical display already conducted.

INEC Begins Processing Claims and Objections

INEC said it was continuing to process claims and objections arising from the display exercise in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026.

The process will precede the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters on December 15, 2026, ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The Commission urged Nigerians and electoral stakeholders to remain engaged in the process, reiterating its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026.

Registered voters can check the Preliminary Register of Voters through: INEC’s online platform.
