The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of approved outstanding 2025 allowances to beneficiaries of the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Programme currently studying in partner countries worldwide.

The Federal Ministry of Education confirmed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has successfully remitted the approved funds to various Nigerian Embassies and Missions, ensuring immediate distribution to the eligible scholars.

A 50% Lifeline to Missions Abroad

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the ministry, the newly released funds account for 50 percent of the total approved outstanding obligations for 2025, with active measures already underway to clear the remaining balance.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, assured students that the money has already landed in embassy accounts. He advised scholars to monitor their personal accounts closely as local missions begin processing and reflecting the payments.

“This development demonstrates the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the welfare and academic success of Nigerian students abroad under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Dr. Alausa stated.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Student Welfare

The announcement comes as a significant relief to Nigerian scholars abroad, who often face financial bottlenecks due to administrative delays in remittance.

The statement, signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, reiterated the administration’s long-term dedication to its academic ambassadors. The ministry reaffirmed the Federal Government’s strict commitment to fulfilling all legitimate obligations to Nigerian scholars while sustaining policies that actively promote student welfare, quality education, and national human capital development.
