The Federal Ministry of Education has moved the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates fully online, ending the need for applicants to visit the Ministry in person.
The Ministry announced the change in a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director, Press and Public Relations on Tuesday, saying applicants can now complete the process through its dedicated online platform.
The move is expected to make certificate verification faster and easier, while reducing delays and the paperwork associated with the process.
No more physical visits
Under the new arrangement, applicants in Nigeria and those outside the country can submit their credentials and complete the required steps online.
The Ministry said the system was introduced to cut bureaucratic bottlenecks, improve transparency and speed up processing.
It is also expected to make it easier for Nigerians abroad and other applicants who previously had to deal with the physical process.
Alausa speaks on new system
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, described the development as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to use technology to improve public services.
Alausa said the initiative is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the drive to modernise government services.
According to him, the automated system will also help protect the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certificates.
He added that institutions, employers and other stakeholders would be able to verify qualifications through a more organised and reliable process.
Ministry urges applicants to use platform
The Minister said the development reflects the Ministry’s commitment to using technology to improve the way education services are delivered.
Applicants seeking to evaluate or authenticate their academic certificates have been advised to use the Ministry’s official platform at essverify.education.gov.ng.
