The Federal Ministry of Education has officially inaugurated and inducted its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) Committee, reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to ethical governance under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The initiative aims to entrench accountability, eliminate systemic loopholes, and ensure the clean management of public resources within the nation’s educational sector.
Driving Accountability in Public Service
During the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, described the ACTU as a vital mechanism for promoting due process and compliance with public service regulations. He emphasized that the ministry must serve as a benchmark for honesty, given its foundational role in shaping the nation’s youth.
“The Federal Ministry of Education must uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in delivering quality education,” Enitan stated, urging the newly inducted committee members to discharge their duties without fear or favor.
Partnering with ICPC for Compliance
The newly reconstituted committee will work in close partnership with anti-graft agencies to monitor internal operations. Representing the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mr. Olusegun Adigun, outlined the operational scope of the new unit, noting that it will significantly reduce institutional vulnerabilities.
According to Adigun, the reconstituted ACTU is tasked with strengthening anti-corruption sensitization, ethics promotion, corruption risk assessments, budget monitoring, and strict compliance with public service rules across the ministry and its subsidiary agencies.
Commitment to Institutional Excellence
Ministry officials expressed strong optimism about the impact of the newly minted committee on service delivery. The Director of Special Duties, Mr. Murtala Tanko, described the inauguration as a clear demonstration of the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to institutional integrity and systemic reforms.
Accepting the mandate, the newly appointed ACTU Chairman, Mr. Malik Guni Kuje, pledged that his leadership would be defined by transparency and accountability. Moving forward, the Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its dedication to institutional excellence, ensuring that public resources are meticulously managed to advance quality education for all Nigerians.
