The Federal Government of Nigeria officially launched a nationwide free training program on Monday, aimed at equipping 10 million citizens with essential financial literacy and inclusion skills.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President through the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), targets the country’s growing digital economy. Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs the committee, emphasized that Nigeria’s demographic dividend can only be realized if women and young people are empowered with technical skills and strong ethical foundations.

To ensure the program’s success, the Office of the Vice President signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with six leading professional bodies. These organizations will collaborate to design certification pathways, digital skill initiatives, and mentorship platforms focused on sustainable wealth creation.

The partner organizations include:

  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)

  • Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN)

  • Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS)

  • National Institute of Credit Administration (NICA)

  • Chartered Risk Management Institute (CRMI)

  • Nigeria Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NIIE)

According to Vice President Shettima, the training is designed to bridge the gap in financial and enterprise management. By providing specialized investment knowledge and digital competencies, the government intends to strengthen Nigeria’s workforce and foster long-term economic stability.

The program marks a significant step in the administration’s efforts to integrate more Nigerians into the formal financial system, ensuring that the benefits of economic growth reach the grassroots level.
