A non profit organisation, leading the fight to end malaria in Africa, has held its inaugural Excellence Award for Malaria Reporting in Lagos, with Tosin Odusola, of Radio Lagos/Eko FM emerging the winner in the Radio Category.
She won the award based on entries of Malaria articles written between 2014 and 2015.
Other winners of the Excellence Award are the Health Editor of the New Telegraph, Appolonia Adeyemi, who emerged winner in the Print Category and Linda Nengi
Finecountry from DAAR Communications, who won in the Television Category. Similarly, Godwin Haruna of This Day Newspaper emerged First Runner Up in the Print Category.
Presenting the award to Odusola, a Deputy Director at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Omowunmi George, stressed the need to give recognition to Journalists to encourage them to work harder to improve the quality of their reportage especially on Health and Malaria issues.
The Country Director, Malaria No More, Dayo Oluwole said the first edition of the award was initiated to encourage the Journalists to do more, adding that with increased awareness on Malaria, opportunities to train and sponsorship for fellowship programmes would be available for the Media.
