The Ekiti State Government has officially commenced the distribution of fertilisers to local farmers, marking the flag-off of the Renewed Hope Farm Inputs Support Programme (FISP) Phase I. This strategic initiative is designed to drastically boost agricultural productivity and strengthen food security across the state by ensuring farmers have the necessary resources just in time for the planting season.
The agricultural intervention is being implemented through a robust partnership between the Ekiti State Government, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF). By combining federal and state resources, the initiative aims to provide critical, timely support to thousands of smallholder farmers who form the backbone of the region’s agricultural sector.
Empowering 20,000 Smallholder Farmers
Under this phase of the programme, a massive total of 80,640 bags of fertiliser have been earmarked for distribution to 20,160 smallholder farmers across the South-West region, with Ekiti farmers serving as primary beneficiaries. This large-scale distribution is expected to significantly ease the financial burden on rural farmers, directly translating to higher crop yields and more stable food prices in the market.
Speaking on the impact of the initiative, government representatives emphasized that the timely rollout is a deliberate move to align with the current agricultural calendar, giving farmers the best possible chance at a bountiful harvest.

The intervention heavily reinforces the shared vision of both the state and federal leadership, aligning the local agricultural agenda with national economic goals.
“The programme reinforces the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration to empowering farmers, increasing food production, and driving economic growth,” the Ekiti State Government stated.
By prioritizing the needs of local farmers, the Oyebanji administration continues to position agriculture as a primary engine for economic development and poverty alleviation in Ekiti State.
