The academic aspirations of secondary school students in Education District III received a significant boost recently as a non-governmental organization, 100 Smiles, provided direct cash assistance to ten students for their National Examinations Council (NECO) registration.
This intervention, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on parents and students, marks another milestone in the district’s mission to foster inclusive and accessible education.
Government Commends Private Sector Synergy
During the presentation ceremony held at the District Headquarters in Falomo, Ikoyi, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), Mr. Olusegun Olawale Osinaike, lauded the NGO for its timely intervention. He noted that such gestures are vital in complementing the state government’s extensive efforts to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder any child’s right to quality education. According to the TG/PS, these initiatives serve as a strategic investment in the nation’s future leadership.
“Education remains the bedrock of meaningful development. This initiative does more than just help students sit for an exam; it restores hope and reinforces the idea that society cares about their success,” Mr. Osinaike remarked during the official handover.
