The 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA 2026) have officially shifted from the ceremonial pageantry of the opening weekend to the high-octane intensity of the arena. Today, the Stephen Keshi Stadium and surrounding venues in Asaba transformed into a beehive of athletic competition as officers from across the federation began their quest for gold.
The morning session was headlined by a thrilling display of stamina and strategy in the female cycling road races.
Spectators lined the streets as the cyclists took off in spectacular fashion, powering down the course with a level of focus and fierce determination that drew cheers from the crowd. Early reports indicate a grueling pace, with the leading pack showcasing the peak physical conditioning that Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun recently emphasized as vital for operational readiness.
Meanwhile, inside the Stephen Keshi Stadium, the atmosphere was electric for the highly anticipated Volleyball showdown between Zone 6 and Zone 15.
The match, characterized by powerful spikes and tactical defensive plays, serves as a prime example of the esprit de corps the Games aim to foster.
Beyond the Badge
With 37 sporting events officially underway, the “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action” theme is being brought to life by the athletes. The inclusion of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as a scoring event for the first time has added a new layer of excitement to this year’s edition, drawing significant interest from fans and scouts alike.
