The Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ) has officially launched a new cross-border environmental training initiative, selecting 50 participants for a program designed to bridge the gap between African and European reporting.

Supported by Journalismfund Europe, the six-month digital curriculum aims to sharpen investigative techniques regarding global supply chains and environmental accountability.

The chosen cohort emerged from a competitive open call and represents a broad spectrum of the industry, ranging from veteran investigative reporters to students and early-career journalists. This diverse group is set to begin an intensive online schedule running from February through July, focused on uncovering industrial pollution, toxic exports, and climate-related misinformation.

The program emphasizes a hands-on approach, pairing participants with seasoned editors for mentorship in data-driven reporting and open-source intelligence. By connecting journalists across two continents, the CCIJ intends to foster a collaborative network capable of tracking corporate environmental practices that transcend national borders.

As the workshops commence this February, the initiative seeks to empower reporters to expose environmental harms and strengthen public accountability through high-impact, shared storytelling.
