Dr Bukola Saraki may been ripped off his seat as the Senate President of the Nigerian Senate as the All Progressive’s Congress secures two-third majority in the National Assembly.
Saraki had vehemently declined the request of Adams Oshiomhole, the APC chairman, asking him to resign as the number 3 citizen having defected from the ruling party that voted him as a lawmaker.
He maintained a stance that he would only vacate the seat if the two-third of the National Assembly lawmakers vote him out, which was difficult for the APC to get after recent massive defections of lawmakers.
As the ruling party won the bye-election in Bauchi south senatorial district, Katsina north senatorial district and Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency, there’s a tendency for the game to change against Saraki.
For now, the National Assembly is on recess but there’s also a high tendency of urgently reconvening the lawmakers in order to approve the Independent National Electoral Commission budget for 2019 elections.
At the reconvened sitting any time, a call for his impeachment may be moved.
