Buhari presents 2018 budget to National Assembly today

President Muhammadu Buhari will o Tuesday (today) by 2pm present the 2018 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.

According to the 2018-2020 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, the Federal Government is planning to spend about N8.6tn next year, a jump of about 15 per cent from the N7.44tn budgeted for the current year.

The Paper, which Buhari had earlier sent to the National Assembly in compliance with the provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2007 stated.

Recall that members of the House of Representatives had on Thursday protested as Buhari requested their permission in a letter to present the estimates of the 2018 budget to the joint session of the National Assembly.

Dogara, however, reminded his colleagues that under the Constitution, they could not refuse to receive the appropriation bill from the President.
