Away from the Book Haram Insurgency in the north-Eastern Nigeria, to a peaceful environment in Lagos, children of Araromi Community Slum in Ajegunle received a worthy independence gift 1st October, 2016.
First Aid Services Nigeria and Dreams from the Slum Initiative commemorated Nigeria’s independence by eaching First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to children who have been cut by two sharp edges of life; living in slum and Boko Haram experiences.
The training was prosecuted in partnership with Agatha Obiageli Aghedo Memorial Foundation, Child Right Foundation, Safety Health Environmental Concept with some other first Aid enthusiasts.
Akinfosile Dare Joseph, a first Aid instructor at First Aid Services Nigeria emphasized the need of the knowledge for the children.
“First Aid is for everyone everywhere and we are on the move to ensure we have first aid heroes in every community so we can save lives and have a more emergency prepared community. “
The essence of the training was to teach children safety measures, resuscitation, hemorrhage control hereby making children first Aid heroes and life savers.
Omoyele Isaac success of dreams from the slum in corroboration said that: ” While accidents can and do happen to virtually everyone, they tend to happen with kids a lot more frequently and the training will help them curb such incidence because they also learnt how to improvise in emergency situations and most importantly calling for help”.
The training was attended by 75 children.
