As the COP 21 Climate Change Summit is set to commence in Paris next week, international development Agency, Oxfam will on Monday 30thNovember 2015 stage a walk in Abuja to request for proactive actions by stakeholders.
The march organised in partnership with coalition of civil society groups in Abuja will take off from Unity Fountain, Maitama by 10 am and end at the National Assembly.
According to a statement circulated by Oxfam, the objective of the march is to press for stringent measures by world leaders on climate change at the COP 21 Summit in Paris early December.
“As part of our ongoing Pan African Resilience Campaign, Oxfam will use this occasion to reiterate its stand on the need for government to invest in social safety nets and food reserves to reduce inequality and extreme poverty and demands implementation of the national agricultural resilience framework to reduce food and nutrition vulnerability while enhancing resilience for poor farmers, especially women,” the statement read in part.
Urging residents to come out early for the march, the organisers informed that customized T-shirts will be made available to the participants.
