The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially set the stage for the next political cycle with the release of its Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections. The announcement, issued from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Monday, provides a comprehensive roadmap for aspirants and stakeholders ahead of the nationwide polls.
The document, which was formally signed by the Party’s National Organising Secretary, His Excellency Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, OFR, details the critical windows for the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms, alongside the specific dates for candidate screening, appeals, and primary elections.
Commitment to Internal Democracy
In a statement accompanying the release, the APC emphasized its dedication to a process that is both transparent and inclusive. The party leadership noted that the structured timeline is designed to ensure that all members have a fair platform to compete, thereby strengthening the party’s cohesion.
“The APC reassures members, stakeholders, and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent primary election,” stated Felix Morka, CON, the National Publicity Secretary of the party. He further noted that these efforts are aimed at strengthening the Party’s internal democracy and consolidating its progressive ideals as the nation approaches the 2027 polls.
Operational Guidelines for Aspirants
The schedule serves as a mandatory guide for all prospective candidates seeking to fly the party’s flag at various levels of government. By outlining strict timelines for the screening of aspirants and the subsequent appeals process, the party aims to mitigate internal disputes and ensure that only qualified candidates proceed to the primary stage.
With this formal rollout, the APC becomes one of the first major political entities to provide a clear transition path toward the 2027 elections, signaling an early start to the political season. The party has urged all interested participants to adhere strictly to the directives contained in the schedule to ensure a seamless electoral exercise.
