In a move to accommodate more interested candidates ahead of the upcoming general cycle, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a further extension for the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 General Elections.

The decision, which shifts the party’s internal primary calendar by several days, aims to ensure all prospective aspirants have adequate time to finalize their documentation and participate in the democratic process.

New Timelines for Aspirants

According to the revised schedule released by the party’s National Working Committee, the sale of forms has been extended until midnight on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Consequently, the deadline for the submission of completed forms has been moved to midnight, Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The party emphasized that these adjustments were necessary to provide a level playing field for all members seeking elective offices under the APC banner.

Adjustment to Screening Exercise

The extension has also necessitated a shift in the screening of aspirants, which is now scheduled to take place between Friday, May 8 to Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Following the conclusion of the vetting process, the party expects to release the official list of cleared aspirants on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Official Statement from the Party

In a statement issued on Monday, 5th May, 2026, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON, confirmed that the leadership approved the new timelines to enhance inclusivity within the party ranks.

“The All Progressives Congress has approved a further extension of the timelines for the sale and submission of completed aspirants’ Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, as well as the screening process for the 2027 General Elections,” Morka stated.
