In a strongly worded statement released on Tuesday, the President combined a message of national mourning with a direct military directive, ordering security chiefs to immediately relocate to the state capital to take personal charge of the security situation.

While commiserating with the families of the victims and the people of Borno, the President framed the Monday attacks as a reaction to the sustained pressure being applied by the Nigerian Armed Forces.
