WAEC Releases 2026 WASSCE Results, Records 61.54% Pass

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

WAEC announced the release in a statement on its official X handle on Wednesday, directing candidates to generate their Personal Identification Number (PIN) and access their results through the approved platforms.

The examination body said 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent of the 1,950,726 candidates who sat for the examination, obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

The 2026 WASSCE was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools across Nigeria participating in the examination.

Candidates Access Results Online

WAEC advised candidates to generate their PIN and serial number through its official website before checking their results on the result-checking portal.

Candidates are required to provide their examination number and National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration, alongside contact details for verification.

The examination body said the process is designed to provide candidates with secure access to their results after completing the required verification steps.

The release comes after WAEC earlier announced that the results would be available about 45 days after the completion of the final examination paper.

More Schools Adopt CBT Option

The 2026 WASSCE maintained the traditional pen-and-paper format for most candidates, while more schools embraced the computer-based testing (CBT) option compared with previous years.

WAEC said the increased adoption of CBT reflects the gradual shift towards technology-driven assessment methods in the education sector.

The examination body also recently released results for the 2026 First Series of the Computer-Based WASSCE for Private Candidates.

With the release of the latest results, candidates can now access their performance details and proceed with plans for further education and other academic opportunities.
