Vice President Kashim Shettima visits the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) to provide support to victims of the recent terror attacks.
During his visit, the Vice President offered sympathies to the survivors and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to their recovery and welfare.
Accompanying the high-level visit, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) delivered a significant consignment of medical consumables and assorted medicaments to ensure the hospital remains equipped to handle the influx of injured persons.
Federal Government Pledges Comprehensive Support
The Vice President emphasized that the administration is not merely focused on immediate medical needs but is looking toward long-term stabilization for those affected. He noted that the government is working in tandem with medical professionals to ensure no resource is spared.
“We are working closely with the hospital management to mobilize necessary resources for the treatment of all injured,” Shettima stated. “In addition, we are providing other relief interventions for their families to ensure they have the necessary succour during this difficult time.”
The visit serves as a directive to emergency agencies to accelerate aid distribution across the region. Local authorities confirmed that the medical supplies provided by NEMA have already been integrated into the hospital’s pharmacy to facilitate free treatment for the blast survivors.
