President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today has officially launched the “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030” theme, declaring that Nigeria has moved past the stage of economic recovery and is now entering a phase of total transformation.
Speaking at the opening of the second edition of the National Economic Council (NEC) Conference at the State House in Abuja, the President described the new five-year plan as an evidence-based roadmap designed to deliver prosperity, dignity, and opportunity to all citizens. He noted that while the country still faces significant structural challenges and fiscal limitations, the reforms initiated by his administration have created a stable foundation for long-term growth.
The President highlighted several milestones achieved through federal and state collaboration, including increased and more predictable revenue allocations to subnational governments, improved public financial management, and expanded social investment programmes targeting vulnerable households and small businesses.
According to the President, the 2026–2030 plan will focus on economic diversification, human capital development, and climate resilience. He emphasized that the success of the initiative rests heavily on the performance of state and local governments, urging leaders to move beyond policy declarations and focus on measurable implementation.
President Tinubu underscored the importance of grassroots inclusion, citing the Renewed Hope Ward Development Project as a primary example of his administration’s bottom-up approach to governance. He maintained that national stability is directly linked to the economic health of the poorest households.
“Nigeria’s diversity is our strength. When every state grows, Nigeria grows. When growth reaches the poorest households, national stability is strengthened. When development is sustainable, our children inherit hope,” President Tinubu said.
