The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) has announced five hosts from five African countries for its 20th edition, scheduled to hold in November in Lagos.
The hosts are Nigerian actress Genoveva Umeh, Tanzanian actor and producer Idris Sultan, Malawian broadcaster Priscilla Kayira, Botswana television and radio host Resego Motlhokathari, and Kenyan media personality Claudia Nasibwa.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Balmoral Events Centre in Lagos, bringing together personalities from across Africa for the anniversary edition.
Five countries represented
The choice of hosts comes a year after Kenyan media personality Azeezah Hashim became the first East African host of the awards.
This year, TFAA has extended that representation to five countries, with hosts coming from West, East and Southern Africa.
For Umeh, the event will also be a return to the platform where she was previously recognised. She won the The Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting in 2024 and will now return as one of the hosts for the 20th edition.
Over the years, TFAA has recognised young Africans working in fields including business, technology, media, entertainment, governance and the creative industry.
Some of its past winners have gone on to build careers and businesses, lead initiatives and take on bigger roles within and outside Africa.
TFAA celebrates 20 years
The 20th edition is themed “Celebrating the Redefiners: Africa’s AI Generation.”
The organisers said this year’s edition will focus on young Africans using technology, creativity and new ideas to solve problems and challenge existing ways of doing things.
Speaking on the choice of hosts, Ayodeji Razaq, Executive Director of The Future Awards Africa, said the lineup was chosen to reflect the growth of the awards over the past 20 years.
“Twenty years is a defining milestone for The Future Awards Africa, and we wanted the stage to reflect how far the platform has come,” Razaq said.
“Bringing five hosts from five African countries together is a bold expression of the continental platform TFAA has grown into. Each host brings a distinct voice, culture and energy to the stage, and together, they represent the diversity and dynamism of the Africa we have spent two decades celebrating.”
Nominations still open
With the hosts now announced, nominations for TFAA20 remain open.
Members of the public can nominate themselves or young Africans whose work is making an impact in their communities and industries.
Nominations can be submitted through the TFAA awards website.
The 20th edition will bring together the five hosts and nominees as TFAA celebrates two decades of recognising young Africans.
