For over ten years, the Nigerian-based organization Spaces for Change (S4C) has been working quietly and persistently to ensure that strict financial and security laws don’t end up stifling civil society groups trying to help local communities. Now, that dedicated effort has earned them a prominent seat at the decision-making table.
Spaces for Change has stepped into a new leadership role as co-chair of the Global NPO Coalition on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), standing alongside long-time leadership partners the Human Security Collective and the Charity & Security Network.
Bringing Ground-Level Realities to the Global Stage
The coalition celebrated the movement as a crucial step forward for grassroots advocacy, highlighting the deep local perspective and technical knowledge S4C brings to international policy.
“Spaces for Change brings strong technical knowledge, a wealth of experience, and a steadfast commitment to protecting human rights and civic freedoms,” the organization shared in its announcement. “We look forward to working together in this new capacity to strengthen the Coalition’s collective voice and advocacy.”
