Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to chair a two-day National Economic Council conference beginning today at the Presidential Villa to streamline economic coordination and foster inclusive growth across Nigeria.

The summit, kick-start today, February 9 and 10, 2026, brings together the governors of the 36 states and key national stakeholders at the Banquet Hall. Convened by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the event operates under the theme Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan.

The gathering aims to establish a unified policy direction, ensuring that state-level initiatives align with the federal government’s long-term economic agenda. Discussions will focus on fiscal coordination, investment mobilization, and shared development strategies.

According to Dr. Deborah O. N. Odoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and Secretary of the NEC, the summit is designed to tackle immediate macroeconomic challenges.

“The conference will focus on national economic issues aimed at encouraging economic growth and development across the country,” Odoh said.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend as the Special Guest of Honour. The proceedings will also include contributions from development partners and private-sector leaders as the administration seeks to deepen reforms under its Renewed Hope Agenda.
