Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has officially inaugurated the new set of State and Divisional Ambassadors for the 2025/26 IBILE Youth Academy, signaling a renewed commitment to grooming the next generation of Nigerian leaders.
The unveiling ceremony, held today at the Lagos House, Ikeja, followed an intensive one-week Boot Camp Residential Training Programme involving 50 high-potential participants from across the state’s five administrative divisions.
Empowering the Next Generation
During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that his administration remains dedicated to creating policies that sharpen the leadership capacity of young Lagosians. To further this goal, he announced that select ambassadors would be sponsored for international leadership training to ensure they can compete on a global scale.
“We are committed to the formulation and implementation of programmes that not only enhance leadership capacity but enable our youth to compete favourably on a global scale,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.
The Governor also showed a gesture of inclusivity by promising consolation gifts to the 44 participants who completed the bootcamp but did not clinch the top titles, ensuring their hard work was recognized.
The IBILE Academy Vision
The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, described the Academy as a flagship programme designed to instill the values and skills necessary for excellence in any field.
Echoing this sentiment, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, noted that the initiative is a direct extension of the THEMES Plus Agenda, which prioritizes social inclusion and youth engagement.

Recognition of Excellence
Beyond the inauguration of the new cohort, the Ministry presented cash gifts and Letters of Commendation to outstanding members of the outgoing 2024/25 cohort to reward their service over the past year.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Lagos Chapter), and representatives of the Lagos Youth Parliament.
