Rapid 96.5 FM has launched its studios in Umuahia, the Abia State capital to serve as a support for young entrepreneurs and Organized Private Sectors to survive and thrive.
Speaking with newsmen, the Head of Station of Rapid 96.5,Nkamiang John, and member of the directorate at the station in Umuahia, Don. Uzochukwu hinted that the radio station was established to give healthy competition and promote human development through intellectual programming.
The duo said that the station will operate as the ethics of the profession demand, adding that the management will not stop executing its vision and mission.
They also revealed that the station commenced commercial broadcast on September 1, 2022, to serve Abians and other South Easterners.
The management assured residents that
youth-friendly programs and business potentials in the South East will be adequately promoted.
It was also noted that the culture of the South Easterners would receive a boost through the station’s programming, adding that the rich culture of the Igbos would be exported to the world while youths would be provided the platform to explore untapped opportunities.
The Head of the station however stated that political issues that will cause crises in the country would not be broadcast by the station, only those programs that promote peace and unity would enjoy air space on Rapid 96.5 FM.
John further promised that only accurate reporting of events would be aired on the station as “we will use our radio to ease tension in society.”
” We want to be the platform where people will be well represented. It is obvious that Abians want something different, and we are ready to give them what they want”.
He challenged Igbos to transform their yearly new yam festival into global tourist affairs that could attract a global audience and participation and further revealed that its modern TV station, Rapid TV would soon begin broadcasting as all arrangements have been concluded to launch into action.
John disclosed that Rapid academy would soon be opened to harvest youths’ talents in entertainment and fashion businesses.
