In a major milestone for the African anti-corruption crusade, Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani, the Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Head of Transparency International (TI) Nigeria, has been honored with the Transparency International Amalia Award for Individual Professional Excellence.
The prestigious accolade, which represents one of the global movement’s highest honors, was officially announced by organizers on July 1, 2026. The presentation took place during the Transparency International Movement Awards Ceremony, concluding the high-profile TI Summit 2026 held from June 29 to July 1 at the TI Secretariat in Berlin, Germany.
Named in memory of the late Amalia Kostanyan, the trailblazing former Chair of Transparency International Armenia, the award is strictly reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to transparency, accountability, and global anti-corruption reforms.
A Legacy of Institutional Impact and Leadership
According to an official statement released by Transparency International, Rafsanjani’s selection was a direct result of his sustained leadership in promoting democratic governance and transparency within Nigeria and the broader African continent. Under his vision, CISLAC has evolved into a powerhouse for evidence-based policy advocacy, fiscal transparency, and electoral integrity.
While presenting the award, TI Chair François Valérian lauded Rafsanjani’s relentless drive and the strategic depth he has brought to the civil society space.
