Paradigm Initiative (PIN) has announced the winners of the 2025 Taiwo Bankole Scholarship, awarding 10 exceptional young people from the Ajegunle community with full support for their university studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or Law.
The scholarship honours the legacy of the late Taiwo Bankole Ogunyemi, a pioneering volunteer who dedicated his life to improving opportunities for youth in Nigeria.
The ceremony brought together this year’s beneficiaries, their guardians, and stakeholders to celebrate the academic promise and resilience of the awardees, who were chosen for their commitment to creating meaningful impact in their communities.
The 2025 recipients include Oyeyinka Ojora, Adedayo Selim Akanfe, Shittu Quyum Adigun, and Boluwatife Osunnuga in Medicine and Surgery; Ishola Basit Ademola in Computer Engineering; Soliu Shuaib Ayomide in Common and Islamic Law; Goodness Otiede in Cybersecurity; Deborah Jesutin Kugbe in Portuguese and English Language; Ozah Sarah Oshioname in Chemistry; and Havilah Inemesit Bassey in Radiography.
Previous scholarship recipients also attended, sharing inspiring experiences about how the award had positively influenced their academic performance. Esther Adeniran, a 2024 beneficiary, said, “Ever since I got the scholarship, my CGPA has increased as I have been able to focus more on my school work with reduced distractions.”
Speaking at the event, PIN Executive Director Gbenga Sesan emphasized the programme’s alignment with PIN’s mission of advancing technology education and preparing underserved youth for the digital economy. “No child should have to struggle for opportunities,” he said.
The Taiwo Bankole Scholarship is part of PIN’s Ajegunle Legacy Scholarship programme, launched in April 2023 to support local youth in securing higher education and to acknowledge the organisation’s early roots in Ajegunle.
Paradigm Initiative works across Africa to connect underserved youth with digital opportunities while promoting digital rights. Operating in over 27 countries, PIN runs programmes such as LIFE (Life Skills, ICTs, Financial Literacy, and Entrepreneurship), digital readiness workshops, and Life at Schools Clubs, while maintaining online platforms like Ayeta and Ripoti that educate youth and provide safe spaces to report digital rights violations.
