The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with Meta, has trained communication professionals from government agencies on digital skills and emerging technology tools to improve public sector communication.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, NITDA said the Digital Skills Masterclass brought together social media managers and communication professionals from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to strengthen their capacity in digital communication, content strategy, audience engagement and the effective use of digital platforms.
The agency said the training was designed to equip participants with practical skills needed to improve online engagement, enhance content delivery and support better communication between government institutions and citizens.
Representing the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, at the masterclass, the Director of Digital Development Services, Olawumi Dejo, stressed the importance of continuous digital capacity building in improving governance and citizen engagement.
Dejo said government communication is changing with the growth of digital platforms, making it necessary for public sector communicators to acquire relevant skills that would enable them to deliver accurate, timely and impactful information.
The masterclass focused on digital communication strategies, content development, audience engagement and the use of modern digital tools to strengthen public service communication.
NITDA said the initiative reflects its commitment to promoting digital literacy, building a digitally skilled public workforce and supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to use technology to improve transparency and service delivery.
The agency added that strategic partnerships with technology companies such as Meta are important in expanding digital capacity and preparing public institutions for the demands of an increasingly technology-driven society.
The training forms part of broader efforts to strengthen digital skills among government workers and improve the use of technology in delivering effective public services across Nigeria.
