Telecoms organisation, Globacom, received lots of commendation for hosting two great shows for young people in Nigeria.
These are Glo Slide ‘n’ Bounce musical show and the Glo Laffta Fest comedy fiesta. they were both hosted around the country in the second half of 2015.
The company was also praised for the 13-week Glo sponsored Dance with Peter, the Miss Bold and Beautiful, a welcome party for NYSC members deployed to Lagos, the sponsorship of the University of Ibadan Students Union Week, among numerous other events.
According to a report in the Leadership newspaper, “Laffta Fest gave the youth population something to laugh about and Slide ‘n’ Bounce gave the youth something to sing along to from city to city, every weekend since August 2015,when the twin concerts began.”
It also revealed that the Dance with Peter show gave opportunity to budding dancers in West Africa the ability to converge and showcase their talents, while the Miss Bold and Beautiful was a welcome party for NYSC members deployed to Lagos. The sponsorship of the University of Ibadan Students Union Week was a rave among the corps members who truly had fun.
Some citizens who spoke with journalists on the youth-engagement activities of Globacom in the year 2015 said that Globacom, more than any other corporate body in Nigeria, creatively engaged the youths in 2015.
Especially about the show hosted in Makurdi, the excitement among the young folks was said to be palpable and weeks after that, many of children who watched the two shows were still talking about them. There is no doubt that the impacts of the shows must have been inspirational on the youth all over the places where Glo hosted the youth-centric programmes
