To encourage mass voting in the forthcoming election, a nongovernmental organization, Tap Initiative, has concluded plans to organize a novelty football match between the Super Eagles’ 1994 AFCON winners and 2013 ACFON winners.
According to the convener, Mr. Mbasekei Martin Obono Esq., the match which has been tagged ‘PVC Football’ was to address voters’ apathy especially among youths during election and encourage them to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
He said the match has been slated for Saturday, February 9, 2018 at YabaTech Sport Complex, Yaba Lagos.
“This comes after INEC released a report indicating that 51.1% of registered voters are between the ages of 18 and 35 and it is a project that basically is to encourage youths to vote and fulfil their civil responsibility. If you have more people to vote for an election, there is every tendencies that there is going to be high level of electoral integrity.
The initiative he said would help the organization in actualizing some of its thematic areas of civil responsibility and voter education.
“We brought football because we have more football enthusiasts. And every person that is going to play the game has its own fan base,” he said.
He said the match has been slated for Saturday, February 9, 2018 at YabaTtech Sport Complex, Yaba Lagos.
