President Bola Ahmed as the special guest of honour praised the council for its role in maintaining a vital platform for policy coordination and collective action between national and subnational governments at the National Economic Council (NEC) conference.

Speaking on the leadership of Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, the President noted that the conference theme, Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development, aligns with the 2026–2030 National Development Plan. He stated that these initiatives reflect Nigeria’s resolve to transition from economic recovery to a period of inclusive and resilient transformation.

The conference highlighted a shared conviction that national development is most effective when it is people-centred and intentionally inclusive of women, youth, and vulnerable populations. This principle serves as the foundation for the Nigeria Development Partners Group (NDPG), which is working to support the government’s Renewed Hope National Development Plan.

The NDPG confirmed its commitment to working across all levels of government to turn policy into measurable impact. The group’s efforts are focused on four primary pillars: inclusive growth, governance and democracy, security and stability, and finance and development.

Elsie Attafuah, speaking on behalf of the NDPG, commended President Tinubu for the bold reforms currently shaping the nation’s development trajectory. She also expressed appreciation to Vice President Shettima and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, for ensuring development cooperation remains aligned with Nigeria’s long-term aspirations.

“We reaffirm the shared commitment of our development partners to advancing inclusive growth and translating national priorities into tangible outcomes for citizens across every state,” Attafuah said.

The event concluded with an acknowledgment of the State Governors and Ministers for their continued partnership in strengthening coordination and ensuring that development efforts reach every corner of the country.
