The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has vowed that justice will be served over the violent attack on two of the agency’s officers during a drug raid in Abuja.
The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement issued from the agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Marwa made the pledge on Monday during a visit to the National Hospital, Abuja, where the injured officers are currently receiving treatment.
The officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, sustained severe injuries after a mob attacked them during a raid on a suspected drug joint in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory on Friday, May 15, 2026.
During the visit, Marwa sympathised with the officers and assured them of the full support of the agency’s management.
He said the NDLEA would take full responsibility for their welfare and ensure they receive the highest standard of medical care until they fully recover.
“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa said.
He commended the officers for their courage and professionalism during the high-risk operation, describing their conduct as exemplary in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
Marwa noted that their sacrifice reflects the commitment of NDLEA personnel to safeguarding communities across the country.
As part of immediate support measures, he announced the rollout of incentives for the injured officers, including official letters of commendation personally signed by him.
He also confirmed that additional support packages had been provided to aid their recovery.
Marwa praised medical personnel at the NDLEA medical team and the National Hospital for their swift response and quality care.
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug cartels across Nigeria, stressing that violent resistance from criminal elements would not deter its operations.
