The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has officially launched a specialized Religious Pre-Marital Counselling Course, aimed at equipping faith-based leaders with the tools to build enduring, violence-free homes.

The initiative comes as a strategic move to integrate professional counseling techniques with religious guidance. By providing free online training, the DSVA aims to standardize the quality of marital preparation across various faith-based organizations in the state.

Expert-Led Curriculum for Lasting Impact

The course is facilitated by a diverse team of seasoned experts, including Mr. Praise Fowowe, Pastor (Dr.) Emmanuel Temilade Oladele, Imam Adekunle Omotayo Saheed, and Mrs. Folashade Ajayi. These professionals bring a wealth of knowledge in family life education, relationship development, and marriage counseling.

Participants will gain practical insights into building and sustaining healthy marital foundations, enhancing communication strategies between couples, advanced conflict management techniques, identifying early warning signs of domestic abuse, and effective strategies for preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

A Commitment to Family Stability

The DSVA emphasizes that the role of religious leaders is pivotal in the societal fight against domestic instability. By empowering these counselors, the agency hopes to foster a culture of safety and mutual respect within the home.

“Strong marriages often begin with the right guidance. Through this initiative, we are ensuring that religious marriage counsellors have access to professional tools that help recognize red flags while promoting healthy family dynamics,” the agency stated during the launch.

Enrollment Details

The program is entirely free and accessible online, allowing religious leaders and marriage educators to complete the training at their own convenience. Interested participants are encouraged to enroll via the official portal at http://safeguardingfamilies.org.ng.
