Lagos State broadcasting agencies have been adjudged as the best in grassroots reporting; thereby making them pride to the memory of their founding fathers.
The recognition came from authorities of the State’s Neighbourhood Watch, while presenting an award of best grassroot reporter to our man – Tunji Owolabi, in Ikorodu.
According to the State Co-ordinator of the security outfit – Kolawole Sanni, the State media agencies – Lagos Television as well as Radio Lagos, EKO-FM and Lagos Traffic Radio ensure grassroots content in their broadcasts.
Sanni, who is also Chairman, Task Force on security, street-trading and illegal parking in Ikorodu local government area said the stations had become references to others due to their coverage of both urban and rural areas; especially in Lagos.
He, therefore, implored Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to ensure the stations have adequate backing to continue to excel in Nigeria’s media industry.
Meanwhile, in response to the presentation, the Radio Lagos / EKO-FM correspondent noted that recent improvement observed on the two stations were attributable to a new awakening created by their General Manager – Funke Moore.
