The Lagos State government has again reaffirms its commitment to the full implementation of Section (3) of the Lagos State Road Traffic Law of 2012, warning all commercial motorcycle operators and street traders to comply fully with the Law or risk arrest and prosecution.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, SP Olubukola Abe, who disclosed this in his office at Ikeja, noted that the Traffic Law restricted commercial motorcycle operators from 475 roads out of 9100 roads in the State including highways and bridges.
He emphasised that law enforcements officers will not relent in their efforts to restore sanity on roads by curbing the excesses of Okada riders and street traders with the enforcement of the traffic law.
SP Abe confirm that since he assumed office as the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, specifically on Monday, 9th of August, 205 till date, a well over 1000 Okada riders have been arrested and have some of their riders prosecuted including street traders/hawkers with their wares confiscated by the courts of law.
He however appealed to his officers and other law enforcement agents to carry out their duties diligently while enforcing the law.
