The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has mobilized a specialized response team to evaluate the impact of recent bandit attacks on the Woro and Nuku communities within the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Director-General of NEMA, issued a directive for the agency’s Minna Operations Office to temporarily relocate its staff to the affected region. This deployment is intended to facilitate a comprehensive, on-the-ground assessment of the immediate requirements of the displaced and impacted residents.
To ensure the intervention is streamlined, NEMA is conducting its assessment alongside the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and various security agencies. This collaborative approach aims to provide a structured and informed response to the security breach.
In anticipation of the assessment findings, the agency has already positioned relief materials within the area. These supplies include food items and essential non-food materials designed to provide immediate support to the victims.
While addressing the situation, the Director-General emphasized the agency’s commitment to the welfare of the survivors.
“I wish to express my heartfelt sympathies to the affected communities and the Kwara State Government over this unfortunate incident, and I assure them of the Agency’s full support during this difficult time,” Umar said.
The assessment process remains ongoing to determine the long-term intervention strategy for the recovery of the Woro and Nuku communities.
