Irede Foundation Plans 1000 Lead Advocate Walk for Children Living With Limb Loss

In a strong effort to raise funds to provide prosthetic limbs for children living with disability and raise awareness on the need for an inclusive society for children living with limb loss, Irede Foundation, – a non-governmental organization that focuses on lending a hand of love, joy and hope to children living with limb loss is mobilizing 1000 lead advocates in a walk that is tagged ‘’Out on a Limb’ awareness walk.

Globally, it is estimated that there are over 200 million children living with disability with large number of them in developing countries.

In a report that was released by Globalrights.org, – a non for profit organisation that challenges injustice and amplifies the voices of grassroots activists to promote, protect, and fulfill human rightshas it that most of the children have no access to assistive tools.

The report further stated that over 80% of children that were amputated were as a result of trauma that emanated from accidents, infections, mismanaged fracture and the likes.

 “Most of these children are beggars on the streets hence they may not have the opportunity to access education, employment, marriage or even live a self-sufficient life”

The walk will gather advocates at 30 different locations to intensify the awareness at YMCA Building, 77, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi beside Mobil Filling Station on 14th of April, 2018
